Bob was an early "Lewis and Clark expert" in our area and one of the creators of the Portage Route Chapter. He later served two years as President of the Lewis and Clark Trail Heritage Foundation.
His legendary, encyclopedic knowledge of history went well beyond Lewis and Clark to include most our out nation's development. One of his other "heros" was Thomas Jefferson.
The two things I remember Bob for that sets him apart from most everyone was first, his vast knowledge and willingness to share it. Secondly , he was the only person I know who could possibly rival Jefferson in the size of his collection of books.
As Ella Mae Howard said, "I'm sure going to miss him."
